Planeta Formación y Universidades brings together Spanish and Latin American entrepreneurs within the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress

Planeta Formación y Universidades has organised a business meeting to promote common interests between Spanish and Latin American companies, in the context of the Smart City Expo World Congress, the international event for the promotion of the development of efficient, sustainable and humane cities, held between 7 and 9 November in Barcelona.

The higher education group organised the meeting in collaboration with ProEcuador and the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology (CITEC), with the aim of boosting the internationalisation capacities of Latin American companies in the field of Smart Cities and expanding professional connections between entrepreneurs, with the help of Planeta Formación y Universidades, which provided the perspective of training as a catalyst for international relations.

The event was attended by more than 30 Spanish and Latin American companies linked to the Smart Cities ecosystem, as well as the institutional representatives of Ecuador, Gisela Montalvo, executive director of CITEC, Borys Mejía, commercial advisor and director of ProEcuador España, and the excellent Patricio Garcés, Consul General of Ecuador.

On the other hand, Alberto Almansa, Director of International Development of Planeta Forma-tion and Universities, highlighted the commitment of Planeta Forma-tion and Universities to the quality of education and the permanent connection with the business fabric, as well as the role of training in the promotion of internationalisation.

The event featured a keynote speech by Jordi Marín, renowned expert in digital transformation and innovation and Smart Cities and former Secretary General of Telecommunications and Information Society of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who stressed the transformative role of innovation and artificial intelligence for the development of smarter and more sustainable cities.

Likewise, Angharad Collado, academic director of IBERONEX, highlighted in her lecture the importance of continuous training to address corporate and institutional solutions and share best practices at an international level.

This international business meeting, which concluded with a networ-king space, highlights the necessary business collaboration between Latin America and Europe for the development of Smart Cities.
