VIU receives for the fourth consecutive year the prestigious Catalyst Awards for its educational and administrative innovations.

  • The Valencia International University is the only Spanish university in its category to be among the winners of the prestigious international award that rewards the best universities in the world.
  • VIU has been awarded in the category of 'Student Experience' for its project 'We accompany you', being for the second time in four years a different category.
  • The winners have been chosen among 109 educational institutions from 21 countries.

The International University of Valencia - VIU, belonging to Planeta Formación y Universidades of Grupo Planeta, has received the award in the 'Student Experience' category, positioning itself as the only Spanish university among those distinguished by the Catalyst Awards, dedicated to recognising and honouring innovation and excellence in the education sector. This award adds to the recognitions obtained in the previous three years, where VIU has already been awarded in the categories of 'Optimising the Student Experience' and 'Teaching and Learning'.

The 'Student Experience' category, in which VIU has been awarded, is an award that recognises institutions that have used Anthology solutions to develop educational and administrative innovations that have positively influenced the student experience, inside and outside the classroom, and improved operational efficiency.

The project for which the university has been awarded is 'Te Acompañamos', which was born from a data-driven perspective in which, based on the analysis of different sources of student voice collection, their digital environment is adapted to the way in which they want to interact with the different departments. In this new space, the student has a single entry point for all queries, regardless of the internal recipient of the university, minimising their effort and increasing the user experience through clear contact channels, accessible at all times and adapted to their preferences.

In the words of Alicia Aparisi, Head of Student Experience at VIU, this award "is a great motivation to continue working in favour of our students' experience. In addition, this award corroborates and boosts our student-centric working methodology in which, taking advantage of the capabilities of technology and data, we listen to and deeply understand our students in order to adapt to their expectations and needs".

For this edition, the jury has chosen 40 winners out of 109 nominees from institutions in 21 countries. Repeating for the fourth consecutive year such an important award, being for the second time in a different category, is a recognition of VIU's commitment to constant improvement in all its aspects, a purpose that has as its ultimate goal to always offer the best possible educational experience to its students.

The awards, which are judged by a cross-functional team of experts, recognise the best performers in their respective categories. More than ever, institutions are grappling with an evolving higher education landscape with new challenges to overcome," said Jim Milton, president and CEO of Anthology, adding that "this year's Catalyst Award winners from around the world are developing new and innovative ways to meet those challenges and drive student success.

The Catalyst Awards aim to recognise and honour innovation and excellence within the global community of Anthology, a company that merged with Blackboard in 2021, where millions of educators and students work every day to redefine what is possible using the power of technology.

The honorees will be recognised during Anthology Together, one of the world's largest EdTech conferences, which will be held July 17-20 in Nashville, Tennessee.
