The dean of The Core School, Mercedes Agüero, participates in the prestigious audiovisual fair ISE 2024

The dean of The Core Entertainment Science School, which belongs to Planeta Formación y Universidades, has participated in Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2024, one of the most prestigious international audiovisual trade fairs. Agüero took part in the round table Talent Development as a Driver for AV Sector Competitiveness, together with other executives from institutions such as Creston Latin America, Barcelona Activa and ICAP Global.

During her speech, the dean of The Core delved into the ideas of diluting the barriers between education and profession, innovating in the university environment to provide students with the skills and knowledge that will be required in the world of work and the need to bring together in the classroom professionals from different fields of knowledge who will later work together in the same disciplines.

For Agüero, it is "necessary" to continue breaking down the barriers between education and training so that, when they finish their training period, students "are perfectly integrated into companies without the need for another stage of training within them". To achieve this, according to the dean of The Core, the design of the educational curriculum is key, in which "professionals must participate".

Mercedes Agüero explained the innovative teaching method that The Core has implemented, whereby students from different fields of knowledge are in the same faculty. "Until now, in universities, students studied individually. For example, a business student would study with others with similar interests, or a video game student would study with those in the same field. However, in real professional life, no one works alone. Ideally, as we have done in The Core, for example, we break down the traditional barrier between university faculties. We bring together in the same school all the disciplines that contribute to the same industry. In this way, she added, "students interested in editing or screenwriting, for example, study alongside those interested in video games and those interested in audiovisual production".

The Dean of The Core School ended her speech by assuring that she does not believe that there is a shortage of talent in the short or medium term, but rather that educational institutions must know how to make the most of students to train them for what companies really demand: "Talent exists, we must know how to develop it, challenge it, promote it and incorporate it into the industry globally, encouraging the movement of workers between productions, companies and even countries", she concluded.
