OBS Business School detects a decline in critical and creative thinking

Planeta Formación y Universidades

OBS Business School, part of Planeta Formación y Universidades, has published the report 'eLearning 2024: Tendencias emergentes y el impacto de la Inteligencia Artificial en la Educación Superior'. Led by Ericka Espino, it highlights the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education.

Currently, AI is applied in assessment, libraries and student behaviour analysis, among others. Although most students and teachers value it positively in online learning, low levels of digital literacy persist. In addition, there is a decline in critical and creative thinking, as well as a lack of academic integrity and intellectual autonomy among students.

In online study, students use platforms such as Blackboard and ChatGPT, and value gamification, which encourages healthy competition and collaborative work. However, this type of education faces challenges, such as difficulties in accessing technology in different regions, cultural differences and the need for a design that promotes interaction between students and teachers.
