UNIE Universidad decides to open a new urban campus of more than 25,000 m2 in Madrid

UNIE Universidad

UNIE Universidad, belonging to Planeta Formación y Universidades, the higher education network of Grupo Planeta, will open a new campus of more than 25,000 square metres, with a capacity for more than 5,000 students, in the capital of Madrid in 2026. This new campus was created to respond to a labour market in constant evolution and to the needs of the social fabric with an official undergraduate, double degree and postgraduate training offer, mainly in the area of Health Sciences, which is becoming increasingly necessary. With this new opening, UNIE Universidad expands the training project that it currently offers in the business and cultural enclave of Arapiles, in the centre of Madrid, and in the university campus of Tres Cantos, in the north of the Community of Madrid.

Its excellent location, connected to the main axes of technological, engineering, business and health sciences development in Madrid, will be located at Monforte de Lemos, 28, near the La Vaguada shopping centre. The area is home to important scientific centres such as the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas, the La Paz hospital, the Ramón y Cajal hospital and the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. And, very close to the area of the Las Cuatro Torres business park, as well as the Distrito Telefónica.

In the words of Segundo Píriz, rector of UNIE Universidad, ‘we are proud to open a new campus that will allow us to train new generations of professionals in quality and knowledge. The more than 25,000 square metres of this campus will house state-of-the-art learning spaces and will provide the necessary conditions to achieve the levels of academic and employment excellence that are the identity of our university. This new centre will allow us to continue to grow in the number of students who will enjoy open and functional areas equipped with the latest technologies to live a unique university experience’.

For her part, Montse Civera, Academic Director of Planeta Formación y Universidades, emphasised that ‘the opening of this new campus shows our commitment to university education, connected with the productive and social fabric and focused on the student. It is another step towards building the hub of higher education that we want to be, and that our students feel like professionals from day one, providing them with the tools to learn in a reality oriented towards the world of work, as well as a space that promotes their overall wellbeing’.

A campus that combines design and a closer look at professional reality

This new campus, designed by the Ruiz Barbarín studio, respects the modern Spanish architecture created by Alejandro de La Sota in 1989. Located in a privileged enclave, it combines design and modernity with architectural history, with almost 9,000 square metres of green areas, parking for bicycles and electric vehicles. An architectural project that allows the ideal connection to promote learning through simulated environments, with the latest technology and laboratories equipped to the current state of the profession.

Green facilities with LEED Platinum certification

The Monforte de Lemos Campus, 28, will thus be the third campus of UNIE Universidad, together with the Arapiles and Tres Cantos campuses. It is characterised by being an urban office campus in the centre of Madrid. This new centre meets the highest standards of sustainability, efficiency and wellbeing, including the prestigious ‘Leed Platinum’ certification.

The building has obtained the highest level of recognition awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council to buildings that meet the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency. In addition, students can enjoy a wellness area, with direct access to the changing rooms and showers, and a canteen with natural light and direct access to the outside.

Technology is another of the strong points of this new campus. Its classrooms, designed to increase the quality of the spaces, will incorporate educational advances and innovations in open-plan classrooms that are recognisable at the entrance, clarifying the floor area destined for common areas.
