Jordi Marín, Director of the AI Centre at Planeta Formación y Universidades: ‘Without education, it is impossible to take full advantage of the benefits of AI’
Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially generative AI, is transforming the labour market and opening up new opportunities for professionals. However, its effective adoption requires training to enable workers to develop the necessary skills to integrate it into their daily performance. This was one of the main conclusions of the round table ‘The impact of AI on education and employability in the future’, organised by Planeta Formación y Universidades, within the framework of MWC25.
The session, which took place at the Mobile World Capital Barcelona stand at MWC25, featured top-level experts, such as Jordi Marín, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Centre at Planeta Formación y Universidades; Gonzalo Romero, Head of Google for Education Iberia; and César Martín Lara, Technology & Transformation Partner at Deloitte. The meeting was moderated by Fernando Sifuentes, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at EAE Barcelona.
During his speech, Jordi Marín cited the barometer ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Employability of the Future’, elaborated by Planeta Education and Universities and GAD3, to highlight the importance of training in this field. ‘AI does not replace traditional methods, it complements them and accelerates learning. Students are willing to use this technology, but they need specific education to take advantage of its full potential,’ he said.

Gonzalo Romero highlighted the growth of new job roles driven by AI. ‘We are seeing the emergence of AI managers within companies. In 2007, 69 million new professions are expected to be created where AI knowledge will be an essential skill,’ he said. He also stressed the importance of ensuring equitable access to the technology and promoting responsible adoption.
In his speech, César Martín Lara emphasised that companies must integrate AI in a progressive manner, ensuring the evolution of their teams. ‘There is a concern about how to adopt AI without generating a skills gap. Continuous education is key to achieve a responsible transition,’ he explained.
MWC25 has served as a meeting point to discuss the crucial role of education in digital transformation and the need for collaboration between academia, business and government to ensure effective adoption of AI.
