70% of Italian students say they do not receive education in AI, but 89% use it
The study, carried out by Planeta Formación y Universidades in collaboration with GAD3, a benchmark in social research and corporate communication in Spain, reveals the perceptions, skills and expectations of 4,000 students aged between 18 and 35 in Italy, France, Spain and Colombia regarding the transformations induced by artificial intelligence in their academic and professional careers.
Although 89% of Italian students use AI tools, only 23% have received formal education in this field, highlighting the urgent need to integrate AI-related content into the educational programmes of Italian institutions. Despite this, the study underlines the growing interest among Italian students to improve their technological skills, with 64% of respondents expressing a desire to deepen their AI learning.

The presentation of the survey results, held on the Rome Business School campus, highlighted not only students' perceptions of AI, but also their concerns about the challenges this technology poses, especially in relation to job losses and ethical risks. However, many students believe that while AI may eliminate certain jobs, it will also open up new opportunities, particularly in emerging sectors. The results suggest that AI will profoundly transform education and the labour market, and Italian students insist on the need to adapt academic education to these new realities, to ensure that they can take advantage of the opportunities this technology offers in an ethical and strategic way.
